The Palm Cushion: Anatomy & Build

Layer 1: Elastomer Membrane

Wipeable Non-Porous Surface

The outer surface is a soft-touch polyurethane elastomer that resists body heat and skin perspiration while remaining smooth under friction. It does not gather lint like cloth mousepads.

Layer 2: Dual-Density Foam

High-Density Sub-Layer

Underneath the outer skin lies a resilient molded foam core designed to cushion the thenar/hypothenar eminence (heel of the palm) without collapsing or bottoming out under heavy hand weight.

Hygiene Protocol

Cleaning & Maintenance Rules

Logitech instructs cleaning with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap. Disinfecting wipes with <25% alcohol are permitted; undiluted isopropyl alcohol or acetone will dissolve adhesive and degrade the foam.

Sensor, Switches & Teardown Analysis

Component Specification Real-World Performance & Experience
Primary Switches Logitech SilentTouch microswitches Dampens acoustic click noise by >90% (<30 dBA). Distinct tactile feedback without mushiness.
Optical Sensor Advanced Optical Tracking (400–4,000 DPI) Adjustable in 50 DPI increments via Logi Options+. Perfect on mousepads/wood; does not track on glass.
Scroll Wheel Kinetic SmartWheel with auto-shift clutch Line-by-line ratcheting for spreadsheets; auto-shifts to frictionless kinetic free-spin on fast flicks.
Glides / Skates Standard PTFE pads (Black) Adequate glide for desk work; slightly higher friction on coarse cloth desk mats compared to virgin PTFE.
Internal Chassis Modular PCB with Torx/cross screws Concealed screws under skates; thumb switches socketed directly to side daughterboard.
